The Yamazaki Single Malt Japanese Whiskey Mizunara Oak Cask 18 Year

The Yamazaki Single Malt Japanese Whiskey Mizunara Oak Cask 18 Year

The Yamazaki 18 Year Old Mizunara Japanese Oak Cask (700ml) is a highly coveted, limited-edition single malt masterpiece from the iconic House of Suntory. Unlike the core Yamazaki 18 Year expression (which is aged in a combination of American, Spanish, and Mizunara casks), this ultra-premium release is matured exclusively in rare Japanese Mizunara oak casks for a minimum of 18 years.
Mizunara ("water oak") is notoriously difficult for coopers to work with due to its porous, leak-prone nature, making these casks incredibly scarce. However, the wood rewards decades of patient maturation by imparting an ethereal, deeply meditative character entirely unique to Japanese whisky.
Profile & Tasting Notes
  • ABV: 48% (96 Proof)
  • Color: Reddish amber with deep, warm copper highlights.
  • Nose: Rich and elegantly layered. Aromas of dark cherry, ripe peach, and dried persimmon are accented by warm baking spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, underpinned by a distinct, temple-like fragrance of agarwood and sandalwood.
  • Palate: A velvety, full-bodied mouthfeel. It features a complex, graceful interplay of spiced honey, Japanese pear, and rich orangette, weaving seamlessly with profound notes of traditional Japanese incense.
  • Finish: Exceptionally long, lingering, and complex. The spiritual warmth of sandalwood dominates, slowly fading into clove, toasted oak, and a delicate touch of dried coconut
